Every year, our association must grow and adapt to keep up with the needs of our members. This year is no different. We have witnessed big successes in health care coverage, including the approval of HIP 2.0 and the Supreme Court ruling in favor of Burwell in the King vs. Burwell case, ensuring Hoosiers who need it most have access to affordable health care treatment.
Another success? The launch of our quality and price transparency website, mycareINsight.org, which would have not been possible without the thoughtfulness and passionate involvement of our members. We have received numerous positive comments about the tool from policymakers throughout the course of the year. We will continue to routinely update the website with the most recent, available data, and we ask that you and your team continue to monitor your hospital’s page on careINsight and come to us with any questions. As we discussed with members during the site’s development, the tool is not the final solution to the transparency issue, but a very big step in the right direction. It is crucial that community members who use the careINsight tool are guided to a page on your hospital’s website with specific information regarding who to contact with pricing and billing questions. If you haven’t already, let Bernie Ulrich know where your hospital’s careINsight landing page should send patients with billing questions. The more information you provide, the more successful our tool will be.
A new edition to the association this year is the Endorsed Business Partner Program and, with it, 12 new IHA Endorsed Business Partners. It is our sincere hope that the partnerships we have created will be an added value to our members. The business partners selected to become part of the program are expected to meet high quality standards and offer products or services that help our members avoid costs, recover revenue, reduce operating and capital expenses, improve management and quality, increase productivity, develop staff resources and apply new strategies. Please keep them in mind as you look to develop plans in the coming year.
As we wrap up this year, I’d like to personally thank our 2015 board members for their service and guidance throughout this busy year. Martin Padgett, president and CEO of Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, has done an excellent job as this year’s chairman. I am excited to work closely with chairman-elect Bryan Mills, president and CEO of Community Health Network in Indianapolis. Each year brings new challenges, but the benefit of the association is how we always pull together and unite to ensure our collective voices are heard. It is a privilege to stand with you in the service of our members and the patients of Indiana hospitals.
Finally, don’t forget to update your contact information in January 2016 to reflect IHA’s new office location at 500 N. Meridian Street in Indianapolis. We look forward to having members in our new office space.
