Saving Jake: When Addiction Hits Home

The 2018 State of Our Health Road Show kicked off with the Indiana State of Our Health Summit in Indianapolis April 13. Keynote speaker D’Anne Burwell shared her powerful story of how her son’s struggles with addiction almost tore her family apart.

Attendees of each Road Show town hall meeting will receive a complimentary copy of Burwell’s book, “Saving Jake: When Addiction Hits Home.”

“Saving Jake” chronicles the journey of Burwell’s smart, athletic son, who began abusing OxyContin as a teenager and dropped out of college, walked out of rehab, and landed homeless on the streets of Boulder, Colorado, within a year. Struggling with fear, guilt, and a desperate need to protect her son, Burwell also grappled with her husband’s anger and her daughter’s depression as the family disease of addiction impacted them all.

“Saving Jake” gives voice to the devastation shared by the families impacted by addiction. Above all, it is a powerful personal story of love and redemption.
