There was nothing more exciting to me than unwrapping my first penis pump, I was like a little kid with a new toy, unfortunately my sometimes “compulsive” behavior gets the best of me, in this case I quickly unwrapped my new toy and off to the shower I went.
After hearing so many wonderful things about the Bathmate I just had to try it, however I neglected to read the instructions, BIG MISTAKE, the filling it with water was very straightforward, no rocket science there, once the cylinder is filled you insert your penis, so far so good, now let me backtrack a little, everything I knew up till now about the Bathmate was from message boards and different articles I read on the internet, so I thought I knew everything there was to know about pumping.
So here are some things I had to find out the hard way, you do not always get a perfect seal, in my case I had an average amount of pubic hair, when you initially begin pumping pubic hair can get pulled in to the cylinder and be uncomfortable, in my case before my next session I shaved, you don’t have to but I did. Make sure you use a regular razor, don’t even think about using any kind of hair removal cream, I have heard that it can be painful and can be very irritating to the skin.
Once you begin to pump take it easy, especially on your first few sessions, in my case I over pumped which case caused two distinct issues, one was an issue with slight redness on the end of my penis, this was from too much pressure, over pumping can cause this and in some severe cases can cause a hematoma, this is when blood rises to the surface underneath the skin, if this happens make sure you suspend pumping for a few days. That’s usually how long it takes for the symptoms and redness to go away.
Beware of other kinds of swelling , the whole purpose of a penis pump is to swell the penis with more blood, this is what helps increase penis size, TO MUCH PUMPING can lead to a buildup of lymphatic fluid in the penis, the liquid is similar to the water like substance found in blisters, this is normal in the human body and it is a reaction of our immune system, if it happens the head of the penis will swell up like a doughnut which is why it is also known as the “ donut effect” in most cases this symptom is harmless but you should suspend pumping until it heals.
Note: if in fact your penis does fill up with lymphatic fluid, besides suspending pumping you can gently massage the penis with your hands this will slowly help dissipate the fluid.
How’s it hanging?
I used to wonder about this term but now I know exactly what it means, it can have an impact on pumping, sometimes the scrotum hangs more than usual, in some cases this can be a big pain because if you’re not careful the pump will tend to suck the skin in to the base of the pump, so placement is critical to avoid this happening.
Start off slow and read the instructions
Before you begin pumping be patient and read the instructions carefully before you use any penis pump, recommended session times are around 15 to 20 minutes however I would recommend starting off with 10 minutes, as you get used to using the device you can gradually increase the length of your pumping sessions.
Pumping with a limp penis or a hard one
This is a question that I wondered about myself because no one really tells you that. I started off pumping with a slightly erect penis I would say around 50% which is not hard to do when you begin pumping, however my personal experience has been that an erection that is at about 80% is where I have had my best success, but this will likely vary from person to person, some guys insist on the penis being 100% erect because you get a better seal.
How much time you spend pumping is critical to growth, once I got the hang of the thing, I was regularly doing two 20-minute sessions with a 5-minute rest in between 5 days a week, it took me about six weeks to really seem some good growth, now after a year I have easily reached the 2-inch mark in length and about a 1/4 of an inch in thickness which to me is very considerable.
Pumping can be awkward and require practice!
I guess one of the many frustrations about using a penis pump is the fact that it can be rather frustrating the first few times “at least until you get the hang of it” but trust me, once you do get in to the groove it becomes second nature and you will be pleased with the results, in the end you will experience stronger and harder erections, a bigger penis and hopefully a much-improved sex life.
Prevent injuries by using the correct penis pump
Most penis pump injuries occur because you pump too hard with a manual or automatic pump. One way to prevent that is to use a water-based penis pump which is way more gentle on your penis yet powerful to perform well.
There are really only one good water-based penis pump and this is due to a patent which is a shame but that’s the reality of the penis pump industry.
That pump is called Bathmate which is very popular and your best option if you wish good results and staying safe at the same time.
You should always buy your Bathmate penis pumps directly from Bathmate themself. You can also take a look at our guide to the best penis pumps if you wish to learn more about penis pumps.
